Innovation districts and support

These include the Advanced Manufacturing Innovation District Scotland (AMIDS), the Glasgow Riverside Innovation District (GCID), and the Glasgow City Innovation District (GRID). Advanced manufacturing

The region is at the forefront of advanced manufacturing innovation. It's supported by the National Manufacturing Institute Scotland (NMIS) and sits within the Advanced Manufacturing Innovation District Scotland (AMIDS).  

Across the region, you'll find facilities include such as the Medicines Manufacturing Innovation Centre (MMIC), Scottish Marine Technology Park (SMTP), Fraunhofer UK Research Ltd, and Smart Hub Lanarkshire.

These centres drive innovation, skills, and global competitiveness in sustainable, digitally-enabled manufacturing.

Human health

A global hub for health and life sciences, the region features the Imaging Centre of Excellence (ICE), the BioCity Glasgow biotech incubator, and the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital campus. These institutions are at the forefront of healthcare and innovation across the UK and Europe.

The Precision Medicine Scotland Innovation Centre (PMIC) and Health Innovation Hub (HiH) in Govan provide opportunities for clinical research, precision medicine, and digital health. These are supported by strong partnerships with the University of Glasgow and the NHS.
