Haventus: anchoring Scotland’s offshore wind future

Last updated: November 2025

Scotland is emerging as a global leader in offshore wind – and Haventus sits at the centre of that momentum. With over £400 million invested in redeveloping the Ardersier Energy Transition Facility near Inverness, the company is transforming a dormant industrial site into one of the UK’s most advanced offshore wind deployment facilities.

From brownfield to green energy hub

Once an idle oil fabrication yard, the 450-acre Ardersier site is being reimagined as a full-service energy transition facility for offshore wind. With 650 metres of existing quay access and plans to expand by another kilometre, the site will offer end-to-end capabilities for turbine assembly, integration, maintenance, and logistics.

This transformation represents more than a physical rebuild – it marks a shift from fossil fuel legacy to clean energy leadership, creating long-term economic and environmental value for the Highlands and beyond.

Backed by strategic capital

In January 2025, Haventus secured a £100 million joint credit facility from the Scottish National Investment Bank and the UK National Wealth Fund, building on its earlier £300 million equity investment from Quantum Energy Partners. Together, these investments demonstrate strong institutional confidence in the project’s national significance.

The facility is expected to be operational by late 2025, supporting Scotland’s expanding offshore wind pipeline.

A model for just transition

Haventus’s vision extends far beyond infrastructure. By repurposing former oil and gas assets for renewable energy, the company is enabling inclusive, future-proof growth.

The project is expected to create hundreds of skilled jobs, strengthen local supply chains, and provide a blueprint for sustainable redevelopment in industrial regions across the UK.
