Advanced Manufacturing Innovation District Scotland (AMIDS) is Scotland’s home of manufacturing innovation focused on a net zero future.
It’s a 52-hectare development site right next to Glasgow International Airport. It’s the ideal investment location for manufacturing companies to collaborate in a productive and sustainable way.

National Manufacturing Institute Scotland (NMIS) HQ
The new NMIS HQ opened at AMIDS in 2023. It offers an open, collaborative space that will foster creativity and inspire knowledge sharing in advanced manufacturing. It's making companies more competitive, transforming productivity levels, and boosting the skills of our current and future workforce.
The NMIS Digital Factory offers a fully connected digital manufacturing environment. The Factory works with companies to help them embrace the use of digital technologies to cut costs and become more sustainable, productive and competitive.
Excellence in innovation
Two of the UK’s seven High Value Manufacturing Catapult Centres — world-class centres of excellence and innovation in manufacturing — are located here. AMIDS is also home to:
- NMIS HQ and its specialist technology centres — Advanced Forming Research Centre (AFRC) and the Lightweight Manufacturing Centre (LMC)
- The Medicines Manufacturing Innovation Centre, a new facility to transform manufacturing in the pharma industry
Community
Join a community of international manufacturers including Rolls Royce, Thermo Fisher Scientific, Peak Scientific, Terumo Aortic and Doosan Babcock.
Net zero ambitions
Fully carbon neutral in operation, the NMIS HQ building has a fifth-generation heating network that uses 90% less carbon than traditional gas boilers. The campus also has low carbon transport options, with walking and cycling routes around the district, as well as plenty of electric vehicle charging facilities.
Public sector support
AMIDS benefits from significant public sector commitment, with a range of infrastructure investment, R&D and innovation funding support available from national enterprise agencies.
