Opportunity summary

  • The UK Government launched a Cap and Collar scheme for Pumped Storage Hydro in 2024 – to be run by Ofgem – which will provide financial certainty for investors on future PSH schemes.
  • Pumped Storage Hydro schemes have a long term future as an infrastructure asset with Scotland’s existing 2 projects being built in the 1960s/1970s.  New projects would be expected to have a 100+ year asset life making them highly attractive long term energy assets.
