Scotland is blessed with a fantastic larder of some of the world's finest food and drink produce. 

THAIFEX - World of Food Asia, is the largest food and drink trade event in South East Asia. You can meet 14 of Scotland's very best food and drink companies at this year's event in Bangkok, between 31 May and 4 June - at the Scotland Pavilion Hall 4-X25 to 4W-30. Each one is ready to forge new relationships with buyers around the world.

Ashers Bakery

Ashers Bakery Ltd has been baking in the Highlands of Scotland since 1877. The current directors are the great grandsons of the founder and are proud to carry on the tradition of producing delicious bakery products.

As well as supplying its own shops in the Highlands with everyday lines, the company produces a range of attractively packaged cakes including whisky cakes (using single malt whisky), chocolate cakes and liqueur cakes. These delicious cakes have a long shelf life and are packaged in bright tins or cardboard boxes, making them ideal gifts or items for hampers.

The Craft Beer Clan is Scotland’s premier export consolidator of craft beers and spirits, currently trading with UAE, Hong Kong, China and South East Asia. Using a collaborative business model, the company was established in 2014 to support and enable Scotland’s smaller producers of craft beer and spirits on route to international markets.

The company works in partnership with over 40 Scottish craft brewers and distillers, including Stewart’s of Edinburgh, Williams Brothers, Deeside Brewhouse and BrewGooder. BrewGooder is produced in partnership with BrewDog - and is a clean water lager which donates its profits to water and well digging projects in Malawi.

The Craft Beer Clan also produces its own Clan Brewing Company 33cl craft bottled beers, matured in regional single malt whisky casks.

The company sources, consolidates and ships to market, giving importers a single point of contact and administration.

Holy Grass vodka features the unusual botanical Holy Grass (Hierochloe borealis), once discovered on the banks of the nearby Thurso river by Robert Dick, a legendary botanist. R&B Distillers Ltd

Founded by two Scots, Bill Dobbie and Alasdair Day, R&B Distillers is an Edinburgh-based independent whisky company. The company is due to open its first distillery on the remote Hebridean island of Raasay in Summer 2017, with a view to launching its inaugural Raasay single malt in 2020. 

While R&B Distillers waits for its spirit to mature into Scotch whisky, the company has released a limited collection of independently bottled expressions, including a lightly peated single malt finished in Tuscan wine casks, an herbaceous single grain finished in Oloroso sherry casks, and an aged blend that Alasdair inherited from his great grandfather. These are representative of the even better things to come from R&B Distillers and Raasay Distillery – innovative Scottish craft whisky for the modern discerning drinker.

Vegware

Vegware is the first and only completely compostable food packaging firm operating globally. Founded in the UK in 2006, the firm now operates across four continents. 

Everything in the Vegware range is made from plants, not plastic. All of the materials used are renewable, sustainably sourced, and low in carbon. The company also offers environmental consultancy and design support.

Today, Vegware’s clients range from the biggest contract caterers and food distributors, through to government offices, hospitals and independent, artisan delis and cafes. Its range of completely compostable packaging has grown to over 250 items, including several world firsts. 

Just by using Vegware’s plant-based packaging, customers saved over 4,300 tonnes of carbon in 2016 - the equivalent of over 7,600 flights from Jakarta to Sydney, Australia.
Vegware is continuing to expand across the globe and develop new, innovative compostable packaging.
