  • Groundbreaking – the first commercial wave and tidal stream leases to feed into the UK national grid
  • Support – Scotland’s commitment to marine energy offers unrivalled opportunities to collaborate and share knowledge
  • Funding – the Wave and Tidal Energy: Research, Development and Demonstration (WATERS) fund has recently made £13 million available to support wave and tidal energy projects in Scotland
  • Facilities – Scotland’s tests and demonstration facilities offer a realistic platform to test and prove the capability of new technologies
  • Infrastructure – Scotland is investing in its supporting infrastructure and the National Renewable Infrastructure fund will support the development of a sustainable long-term industry
  • Leases – The Saltire Prize team work closely with Marine Scotland and the Crown Estate to guide applicant through the competition process including the tendering procedures involved in obtaining an agreement for lease from the Crown Estate
  • European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) – provides world leading test and demonstration facilities in Stromness, Orkney
