The sector encompasses more than 100 companies and in excess of 50 academic research programmes, employing some 2500 people. Annual sales value is currently greater than £200 million.
The market is being driven by a range of factors such as the threat to mass transport including airports, ports and rail.
Major sporting events, such as the Ryder Cup and the forthcoming 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, are also fuelling demand and there is an ever-increasing need for strong cyber security within networked IT systems.

What is national security?
National security and resilience can include Home Office-funded security measures such as improved intelligence or border control, and the management of incidents such as flooding or industrial fires.
