Funding Scotland's bioenergy industry
Companies investing in Scotland’s growing bioenergy industry can access a range of funding sources as Scotland continues to embrace a renewable energy future.
Specific funding was previously available through the Scottish Biomass Heat Scheme and, from June 2011, the UK Government will provide incentives and funding through the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI).
By encouraging individuals and businesses to embrace renewable energies the government can help grow demand in the bioenergy sector.
The RHI will cover:
- a variety of energy sources, including solar thermal panels, heat pumps and biomass (wood burning) boilers
- households, landlords, businesses, farmers, schools, hospitals, care homes and even whole communities
The bioenergy sector also benefits from Feed-In Tarriffs, a UK Government scheme that:
- Ensures energy suppliers make regular payments to householders and communities who generate their own electricity from renewable or low carbon sources
- Provide individuals, business and communities with generation and exportation tariffs and energy bill savings
We’re also able to help your company identify sources of general funding:
- Research and development grants and tax credits available in Scotland
-
Regional Selective Assistance (RSA) grants are available to safeguard and create jobs in Scotland
