Energy centres

International Technology and Renewable Energy Zone (ITREZ)

ITREZ is Scotland’s renewable energy zone. It’s a hub where a community of developers, suppliers, academics, researchers and support organisations have linked to create a close-knit business and research environment.

Work begins in early 2012 on the zone’s centre - The Technology and Innovation Centre is where up to 850 academics will be working alongside 500 engineers, researchers and project managers from industry.

Energetica

Scotland’s long term plans include the Energetica development, a project that aims to create the world’s greatest concentration of energy technology companies, housing and leisure facilities between Aberdeen and Peterhead.

Energetica is:

  • The Eco Hub – The main business area attracting leading-edge science, technology and research businesses that focus on the energy sector
  • The Green Heart - A number of investment projects in the natural environment, including some new forestation to provide a biomass resource, with modest developments to provide housing in attractively landscaped settings
  • The Northern Gateway - Proposed Peterhead centre for offshore decommissioning and subsea developments that will increasingly play a role in the growth of the marine renewable sector

Scotland's energy centres of excellence
