Scotland has pioneered a radical new and strengthened research landscape through research ‘pooling’ across Scotland’s universities, in areas including physics, chemistry, life sciences, environmental research and brain imaging.

Research pooling is unique to Scotland’s world-class competitive and well-resourced research communities 

Well-established strategic collaborations between universities in specialist or multi-disciplinary areas involve international quality departments and individual researchers across Scotland.

This has resulted in a significant critical mass, with a competitive edge globally to create new knowledge, promote innovation and offer enhanced graduate training.
