Scotland’s successes

Edinburgh is often described as ‘a city built on books’. It has historically been a world centre of publishing - the first printing press in the city was set up in 1507 and the ‘Encyclopaedia Britannica’ was first published there.

The classic world-famous characters below were all created by Scottish authors:
