Scotland has one of the highest concentrations of students in Europe, with more than 270,000 higher and further education students in the central belt alone.
Many of these students are studying subjects relevant to the business processing operation (BPO) industry. Our 15 universities produce thousands of finance, accounting, computing, technologies, business administration and languages graduates.
Customer Contact Association
The Glasgow based Customer Contact Association (CCA) is the global body for the contact centre industry. The CCA’s Global Standard Training Accreditation is an industry wide training standard that:
- Achieves consistency in customer service
- Increases staff motivation and loyalty
- Confirms your commitment to staff development

Caledonian Business School
Glasgow Caledonian University’s Caledonian Business School is a Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments (CISI) Centre of Excellence and boasts 21 percent of all business students in Scotland.
Scottish Qualifications Authority
The Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) is Scotland’s national accreditation and awarding body for qualifications. SQA offers National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) and Scottish Vocational Qualifications (SVQs) for the contact centre and business processing operations sectors.
These courses encourage employee development and employer participation and are available at a range of further education colleges throughout Scotland.
Bespoke business services training
Bespoke training and development options have been developed with input from businesses, the education sector and local enterprise companies. These can include pre-recruitment training courses to prepare potential employees for the business services industry.
