The Centre for Integrated Optoelectronic Systems
Based in Edinburgh and run by six universities to promote multi-disciplinary research the Centre for Integrated Optoelectronic Systems (CIOS) covers various areas relevant to avionics, including:
- Optoelectronic switching and routing for data communications and avionics
- Three-dimensional free-space optical interconnections
- Semiconductor optoelectronic devices - modulators, emitters and detectors
- Smart-pixel, hybrid optoelectronic technologies, including flip-chip integration
- Spatial light modulators and displays
- Lasers and optical amplifiers
- Micro-optics and diffractive optical components
- Optical and opt mechanical systems
