"Without this support we simply wouldn’t have been able to carry out so much development"

Peak Scientific Instruments provide gas generators for use with analytical equipment in laboratory environments. The company has developed a global presence and its products are widely used in DNA and food analysis research.

As the company has grown and moved into the global marketplace it has been supported by the work of Scottish Enterprise and Scottish Development International.

Robin MacGeachy, managing director of Peak Scientific said:

"Scottish Enterprise was a great help when we first tried to get a presence abroad and although we self fund our international exhibitions today, support with attending exhibitions early on gave us the breakthrough we needed.

"We aim to act globally without having a company of 500+ people. Underlying this are the remaining challenges of growing the manufacturing to cope with increased production; developing the management team and their ability to recruit the right people; and harnessing new markets in China and South America.

"And we’re trying to do all of this at once. Being a conglomerate in attitude with a small company’s heart, there are inevitably financial and human constraints as we progress our plan for global growth.

"Expanding our existing facilities in Inchinnan was helped enormously by a Regional Selective Assistance (RSA) grant – we were able to buy the whole building. Scottish Enterprise also supported our R&D activity leading to the development of new products. Without this support we simply wouldn’t have been able to carry out so much development."
