Middle East is an oasis of growing prospects

Potential business in the UAE lies far beyond traditional oil and gas sectors. While still relying on its oil resources, the appetite for new business in other sectors is increasingly diverse and sophisticated.

Opportunities are growing within the education sector, food and drink; and infrastructure development projects and services linked to the Gulf's boom in tourism.

Ease of doing business

""Emirates airline will operate a second direct daily flight service between Glasgow and Dubai from June this year, which will open up more opportunities for Scottish companies to develop business relationships.

It's a fairly straightforward place to do business, according to Colin Crabbe, Scottish Development International's regional manager for the Middle East.

Colin explains, "We're learning more and more about how to set up quickly, and we have people who are part of our GlobalScot network in place who are happy to talk about the details of doing business here."
