Scottish Enterprise secures over 1000 jobs

Scottish Enterprise helped create over 1000 jobs in the last quarter of 2011 thanks to over £12 million Regional Selective Assistance (RSA) funding.

""20 businesses accepted RSA grants, supporting over £62.8 million of investment and safeguarding 1007 jobs.

Lena Wilson, Scottish Enterprise's chief executive, said:

"Regional Selective Assistance is a key source of funding that we use to help home-grown companies stay and grow in Scotland and equally, to help foreign investors view Scotland as the ideal place to locate and invest.

"By doing this, Scottish Enterprise can help forward-thinking companies realise their ambitious plans and in doing so, increase turnover, create new jobs and drive long-term sustainable growth back into the Scottish economy."

RSA funding: key facts

  • 12 companies in the west of Scotland received £1.6 million between them
  • Michelin Tyres PLC secured funding of £5.2 million
  • Stirling's Superglass Insulation Limited secured funding of £2 million
  • 11 manufacturing companies were awarded £9.4 million between them, creating 329 new jobs and safeguarding 426 jobs
