Time Magazine has recognised the significance of the Proof of Concept funded D-Light project at the University of Edinburgh by including Visible Light Communications (VLC) in “50 Best Inventions of 2011”

D-Light has developed technology which makes use of diodes in lightbulbs to transmit data.
Essentially, this technology turns the humble lightbulb into a super-high-speed internet connection, which removes long-download times for consumers.
The technology taps into the light spectrum, which has 10,000 times more capacity than the radio spectrum which is currently at capacity.

Visible Light Communications will be attending Mobile World Congress 2012 in Barcelona as part of a delegation of Scottish companies supported by Scottish Development International.
