Leisure airline Jet2.com is launching five new routes in 2012 that will link Glasgow with the Spanish destinations of Barcelona, Ibiza, Lanzarote, Malaga and Murcia.
The new services are expected to boost incoming tourism business as Spanish families head for Scotland.
The company, which set up its Glasgow Airport operation earlier this year, has also launched its 2012 programme to four other popular areas – Alicante, Faro, Majorca and Tenerife.
Ian Doubtfire, managing director of Jet2.com, commented: “Within two months of setting up our newest base, we launched five new routes and increased capacity to some of our most popular destinations.”
Francois Bourienne, Commercial Director at Glasgow Airport, said: “There has been huge demand for Jet2.com’s flights since it arrived at Glasgow, and we’re delighted it has responded by launching five new routes. The airline is clearly committed to continually improving its services for customers, and should be congratulated.”
Glasgow City Council was instrumental in assisting the airline to start their new services to Glasgow, through a joint communications strategy, ir order to maximise opportunities.
