Stream Communications allows operators faster roll out of M2M services

Date Created: 15 February 2011

Stream Communicationstoday announced the launch of its operator toolkit for M2M services at Mobile World Congress 2011 in Barcelona. The toolkit allows operators to introduce and be running M2M services in as little as 45 days, allowing them to rapidly seize on the huge opportunities available in the growing M2M market.

Stream Communications is one of the 20 Scottish companies benefiting from the support of Scottish Development International at this year's GSMA Mobile World Congress.

The event is showcasing groundbreaking new innovations in mobile applications and technology to 50,000 delegates from 200 countries around the world.

Anne MacColl, Chief Executive of Scottish Development International, said: "Stream Communications is an excellent example of a Scottish technology company that has developed an innovative wireless solution for the mobile space and mobile technology operators.

"We're delighted to be working with the company to help it build its international profile and attending Mobile World Congress will give Stream an opportunity to showcase their technology or products to an influential international audience."

Nigel Chadwick, Founding Director of Stream said: “With analysts such as Infonetics Research predicting a compound annual growth rate for M2M connections of more than 38 percent and almost half a billion M2M connections predicted by 2014, now is the time for operators to take advantage.”

“The challenge for operators is bringing together tariffs, security, billing, market focus, hardware and SIM provision to deliver a meaningful and manageable proposition for business. This is exactly what Stream has built in the UK market and now we want to help operators across Europe and beyond to tap into the M2M opportunity quickly and successfully.”

OaSys - Stream’s online management system forms an integral part of rapid operator roll out, providing complete control of M2M management from any internet enabled device.

OaSys enables operators to more easily manage and control information on the number of SIM cards in use, the machines that are being managed and controlled, and current billing status from one simple to access portal.

“Growth areas such as digital signage, smart utility metering and CCTV provide the chance for operators to capitalise on the M2M opportunity. Mobile communications will work anywhere, not just where a traditional fixed telephone line is available, and in this sense mobile is far more flexible than alternatives,” continued Chadwick.

"Whilst more than 70 percent of people on the planet now have a mobile phone, less than 10 percent of machines are connected. This provides billions of opportunities for mobile operators to grow and develop business in the future.”
