Scottish Development International (SDI) is leading a delegation of Scottish companies to the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC), and will be hosting a Scotland pavilion which can be used as a touch-down base by Scottish companies for networking and meetings during the event.

Founded in 1969, the Offshore Technology Conference is the world’s foremost event for the development of offshore resources in the fields of drilling, exploration, production, and environmental protection. OTC is held annually at Reliant Center in Houston.

Each year, OTC attracts more than 60,000 attendees and 2,000 exhibiting companies representing more than 110 countries. The event is sponsored by 12 industry organisations and societies, who work cooperatively to develop the technical programme each year.

SDI will be joined at the Scottish Pavillion by 28 companies with another 19 visiting companies. Drop by and say "hello" at blocks 1975, 2075, 2175, 2275, 2375. The SDI information desk will be on 2275.

What's on at OTC 2012

Keynote talks from industry leaders will include senior executives from:

  • Total
  • ExxonMobil
  • Shell
  • CNOOC
  • ADNOC

Post-spill deepwater Gulf of Mexico and beyond:

  • "Follow the risk: process safety developments" talk by Shell's Martin Vos
  • "Enhancing industry spill response capabilities" technical session
  • "Risk management strategies for deepwater exploration and development" panel discussion
  • "Improving operational integrity in offshore energy operation: a global perspective" panel discussion

New topics covered at OTC 2012 will include:

  • New standards for jackups and platforms
  • Global LNG
  • Innovative FPSO and offshore offloading solutions
  • Drilling over 15,000 psi
  • Deepwater cementing
  • Continuing advancements

Technical sessions will also focus on new developments in offshore wind energy and local power generation for offshore facilities

In addition there will be a series of topical discussions and networking events scheduled throughout the week.
