Why South Korea?
South Korea, home to 50 million people, is a vibrant and sophisticated market offering excellent opportunities for British top-end consumer goods and services. Koreans have strong purchasing power and are driven by their desire for high quality products and world-class design. Korea is the 4th largest economy in Asia and 12th largest globally with a predicted growth of 4.0% in 2011. GDP per capita is $31,000 plus which is close to UK standards.
The recent introduction of the EU-South Korea Free Trade Agreement will reduce tariffs on 97% of all goods within three years and open up excellent business opportunities for highly reputed British brands. Tariffs on high-end fashion have already been reduced to zero.
