Germany is the second biggest exporter globally with exports of USD 1.408 trillion in 2011 and Scotland’s fourth biggest trading partner. In 2010 Scotland exported goods and services worth GBP 1.265 billion to Germany. Over the last few years 20 percent of Foreign Direct Investment into Scotland has come from Germany.

Germany is Scotland’s third highest source of inward investment projects after the USA and France. In 2009 there were more than 60 German-owned enterprises in Scotland.

Over the last four years, 20 percent of European Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) into Scotland has come from Germany with a capital expenditure of £145 million (€165 million).
