Scotland was named as "UK Region of the Future 2006/07" by the Financial Times' fDi magazine. 


Scotland came top by scoring highest in the judging categories of economic performance, human resources, IT and telecommunications, transport links, quality of life and overall FDI promotion strategy.
Scotland also won separate awards for "European Region with Best FDI Strategy" and "European Region with Best Human Resources".
In 2004, Scotland was also named as "European Region of the Future 2004/05" by the Financial Times' fDi magazine.
The award was presented at a ceremony in Hong Kong by fDI magazine which judged competing regions in a number of important categories: economic potential, cost effectiveness, human resources, telecommunications and IT infrastructure, quality of life, transportation and security.
