Marinas
With one of the longest coastlines in Europe and sailing opportunities across many conditions, Scotland offers sailors an ideal combination of unspoilt locations and high end luxury with easy access to vibrant cities.
Investments in existing facilities and marine infrastructure will need to substantially increase in the next ten years just to meet the expected demand.
Opportunities:
- There are currently 10,000 vessels resident in Scottish waters, with the largest numbers hosted in the Clyde River and the west coast
- The Clyde and west coast have a range of facilities including; sail from, sail to, and sail through
- Over 1,000 new pontoon berths are either in planning or development
- Future growth predictions suggest further marina infrastructure is required and provision of berths will need to double in the next ten years to meet demand
- Growth will come from a combination of Scottish and UK boat owners, as well as international tourists seeking visitor berthing facilities
