What is RSS?

RSS stands for ‘Really Simple Syndication’. It’s a way for you to keep up to date by subscribing to a ‘news feed’ which you can then monitor. It means that the news comes to you automatically, instead of you having to go to the news.

We currently have two RSS feeds:

RSSSDI news

RSSSDI events

How do I use RSS feeds?

You’ll need a news reader to access our RSS feeds. There are two main types of news readers:

  • Applications (programs) that you can download.
  • Websites that collect RSS feeds for you and display them in your web browser.

Here are some of the most popular feed readers:

Windows:

Mac OS X:

(Apple's Safari browser has built-in RSS capability.)

Web-based aggregators (can be used with any operating system):

Whichever kind you choose, they all let you subscribe to the RSS feeds you want. Here’s a directory of news readers from Google and Yahoo.

Once you have a news reader, you can subscribe to any news feed by copying the feed’s address into your reader.

Using SDI RSS feeds on your site

If you own or manage a website, you can incorporate content from other websites using RSS. You are welcome to incorporate our RSS feeds into your site, subject to our terms and conditions. By using our RSS feeds, you agree to the terms and conditions, so please read them carefully.

Please make it clear that the feed comes from Scottish Development International by using the phrase ‘News from Scottish Development International’ or ‘Events from Scottish Development international’ to describe the feed. Don’t use our logo without permission though.

Scottish Development International does not accept any liability for its RSS feeds, and we reserve the right to prevent the distribution of our content.
