Scottish Food & Drink companies target US market at Summer Fancy Foods show

Date: 21 Jun 2010

As part of an ongoing focus in the US market, 10 Scottish companies will visit New York and participate at Summer Fancy Foods 2010. The Scotland Food and Drink stand will play host to companies showcasing some of the finest examples of speciality fine foods from around Scotland. In addition a number of companies will also benefit from a learning journey that will allow them to attend a number of store visits, meet market experts and showcase new products.

Preparation for the event has been paramount and many of the participating companies have taken the opportunity to attend a couple of US Prepatory Workshops leading up to the event organised via SDI and Scotland Food and Drink. These workshops held recently in Perth and Inverness covered areas including: Routes to Market, US Retailer Structure, Importing to USA Compulsory Hurdles and overviews of both the US and Canadian Markets. These will allow Scottish ocmpanies attending the show to be better prepared to get the most out of their attendance.

In addition companies who have an interest in taking advantage of market opportunities in the US and Canada have also benefited from the brokering of key market contacts in country via SDI offices in the US, and through closer working with a number of Global Scot's in market who have helped identify and facilitate opportunities.
